welcome to young@heart

Young@heart is a major policy development initiative of the National Heart Forum (NHF). Its aim is to ensure through effective policy action, that every child born into the UK should be able to live to the age of at least 65 free from avoidable coronary heart disease.

The young@heart policy framework can be downloaded from the what's newsection of this website.

Coronary heart disease
is the leading single cause of death in the UK
is a largely preventable disease
has its origins in early life exposure to the major modifiable risk factors of poor diet, sedentary lifestyle, smoking and the impact of poverty

This site offers information about young@heart and an opportunity to contribute to the continuing policy consultation process.

Find out what's new in the young@heart initiative, read the abstracts of the specially commissioned research papers, visit the ideas bank for examples of good practice or request to join the young@heart discussion list.

The NHF is a leading alliance of over 40 national organisations working to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease in the UK.
